TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Amazing Course but Overpriced
This is truly an amazing golf course but the pricing is absurd. My review is meant to be positive but they are getting too greedy by charging over $500 per round. I took my son to play there with the Grand Stands up for the Waste Management tournament, that is the only reason I agreed to pay these high prices. C'mon TPC! You can do better on pricing!
Very nice courses
Every thing is perfect, but prices are still high.
Tourist trap but still amazing
It's double or triple what you will pay at other courses, but the last few holes make it worth it.
Perfect driving range, completely flat, short cut grass that wasn't too beat up. Chipping green was in outstanding condition.
Cart path only, wet in the morning, front 9 isn't too interesting outside of the stands on the #1 tee box. Thick 2 inch rough around all the fairways. Perfect greens. Short cut tees and fairways. Sand in the bunkers was being replaced with tour-quality sand which was firm.
Carts had good GPS that you never end up using because your caddy will shoot the number for you. I drove on the cart path on 16 and the cart still shut down which was odd. Great grill at turn with a diverse menu and you can put in orders ahead of time.
So many fun holes to play on the back 9. 10 was a dogleg with stands surrounding the green. 14 was a long par 4 to an uphill green. 15 has a tight tee shot to an island green. 16 has 20,000 seats around you. 17 is a reachable par 4 from the blues. 18 is a fun uphill finishing hole with a tight landing area over water/bunkers.
Biggest issue was pace of play. Took 5+ hours to complete the round. There was a slow foursome of 20-somethings that were over a hole behind the group in front of them, with no desire to speed up at the ranger's request. This course will attract that crowd.
Winter at TPC STADUM
Second time playing just before tournament.. more effort on having #16 complete. Maybe add speakers for enhanced exsperance... To fill the players exsperance to justify High Greens fees. Thank you William W Lewis lll
Well worth the money
This was such a bucket list experience it was so amazing something to be seen and enjoyed Every aspect of the experience was amazing We enjoyed seeing how the big guys get to play this amazing game of golf
Pro shop staff a little snooty but that’s ok .
We were unable to finish the course due to darkness and slow play in front of us . Tee’d off at 2:00 and payed a lot $ would have loved to at least play hole 16 . Just sayin
Bucket Checkmark
The course is a golfer's paradise, boasting picturesque views and challenging greens that keep you on your toes. A premier destination blending scenic beauty with an exciting golfing experience, making it a must-visit for any enthusiast.
Lovely round
We had an extremely enjoyable round. However if there is any way to limit beginners to playing a little later it might help when golfers are joined in to a four ball. I would say today we had 3 players with index’s between 10 and 20 and then a third player with no handicap and at best would be 45. Whilst we we all beginners once and cannot discriminate having a minimum index for such a course at prime time might enhance the experience. Many top European course still ask for a handicap certificate or digital version. And have a higher limit at certain prime times to keep speed of play to a sensible time and enhance every players experience.
TPC Scottsdale - Excellent Course
I played TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course for the first time and I was amazed how different it looks with all the people and the grandstands gone. The course was in really great shape and is very picturesque. It is worth playing again!
Second best TPC Course I've played..behind Sawgrass only
Layout is simple enough yet you feel like each hole stands alone. Bordered perfectly with grass ending and desert rock beginning. Specifically placed floral to accentuate each hole gives a little different feel on each one, for example a 20 foot tall cactus at one par three versus brightly colored flowers at another tee box.
The wildlife is so used to humans they just lay there as you hit your next shot. The birds will constantly fly into your golf cart and take your food if you're not there to prevent them.
Not a fan of not being able to drive the golf cart into the desert rocks, but I get it, don't want to tear up the carts.
Staff came by with wet cold towels.
Great halfway house at the turn.
I expected a larger, more diverse and expansive driving range but it was adequate.
Book an afternoon round at the lower price point. Not as many golfers. I'm a single and it took 2 hours, 10 minutes with me slowing down and enjoying the final 3 holes.
Lived up to the hype today
TPC Scottsdale Stadium course lived up to the hype today. Greens were the best I've seen anywhere course was in impeccable shape. I just wish I could olay it a few more times. Looks way different without the grandstands everywhere, especially the famous #16 par 3, but still tons of fun. Top rate care from the staff made it that much better.
Best in the State
Friendliness of staff, organisation and course in general were exceptionall.
Amazing Golf for Under $100
I have traveled to many places around the United States and have played a number of the top 100 courses in America. But this one might be the best I have ever played for the money.
I bought a late afternoon tee time in June (off season due to heat) but snagged it for $99. It was over 100 degrees at the time we tee’d off but by the back nine, the temperature was amazing and the sunset views around this place were truly spectacular. Not to mention if you are from a hot humid place in the south, this kind of heat is much dryer and more bearable.
The golf course was in great shape, and the greens were some of the best Bermuda surfaces I have played. I would compare it to Pinehurst #4 in its condition, and yet I paid $230 less than I did to play #4 in the middle of the NC hot humid July.
To play a course that is one of the most popular stops on tour each year, and it come in at a cost under $100 means if you come to Scottsdale in the summer, you have to get out to the Stadium!! Even if you come in the late fall or early spring, it would likely be worth the much larger price tag if you are a serious player, and fan of Golf.
